The Ventura Film Festival was established in 2004 and has screened hundreds of films, commonly surpassing 200 films each summer, and has attracted attention from the global cinema community. Since its founding, the festival has expanded into a substantial cultural happening that brings together movie directors, ecological activists, and attendees from throughout the world.

The founding executive director of the Ventura Film Festival was honored to take part, accompanied by many of Hollywood's leading celebrities, in the 50-year anniversary event of West Side Story and Hollywood's famous footprint/handprint ceremony recognizing Academy Award winners Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, as well as Golden Globe winner Russ Tamblyn at the legendary Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
